Dog breeders

The IHA tool can be used by anyone who is thinking of breeding from a dog

Whether that be for the first time as a hobby breeder or as an experienced breeder. They can check that the dog they want to breed from (and any prospective mate for that dog) has good innate health and the right genetic building blocks in terms of their physical characteristics to make them suitable to breed from.

The owner of a dog who has passed the IHA will be able to download a certificate as evidence of this and this can then be provided to any prospective puppy owners to reassure them that the IHA has been performed.

It is hoped that using the interactive IHA tool will help breeders and owners of stud dogs make the right decisions in terms of the dogs they decide to breed from and that, as a result, the number of dogs born who go on to suffer from poor health and welfare due to having extreme physical characteristics will be significantly reduced and the lives of generations of future dogs will be vastly improved.
